Deadline's DVD Released Today!
Since July’s broadcast our outreach efforts have continued around the nation with college and university tours, film festival screenings and theatrical releases (Deadline is at The Quad Cinema in NYC this week) and today Deadline’s DVD was released. We are extremely excited that the film will now be accessible to audiences for an affordable price ($29.99) as the DVD is another powerful tool to help spread the word about America’s criminal justice system.
In addition to the director’s cut of the film, the DVD, produced by Elizabeth Mandel includes additional scenes with Governor George Ryan and a speech by Mamie Till Mobley. As well, the special features include interviews with the filmmakers and Deadline characters Gabriel Solache and Donald Schneble.
In keeping with Deadline’s grassroots outreach campaign, we are inviting people to host their own DVD Viewing Parties. Our initial round of Viewing Parties took place on July 30th, 2004 with over 140 parties tuning into Deadline’s NBC broadcast across the US.
It is amazing to have an outlet for individuals to initiate their own kind of outreach. Working on the campaign on a broad, national level has been extremely gratifying and it has been great to see Deadline spread across the states. The DVD will allow organizations and advocacy groups to easily bring Deadline to their communities. However, the film may have its greatest impact on those who are less familiar with the issues and we hope to reach these people as well.
