1000th Execution

This is a new initiative from The Death Penalty Information Center for the upcoming 1,000th execution:

As the United States approaches its 1000th execution since the resumption of executions in 1977, more and more people understand that the death penalty makes mistakes, disproportionately affects the poor and people of color, doesn't deter crime, and is expensive, arbitrary, and immoral. Join us in saying "We get it, enough already: Abolish the death penalty."

There are a lot of things you can do to participate so check it out.

I am just a high school reporter for the school news paper. I have mixed feelings for this so caled death penalty. In some unjust cases I believe it is worth all the money to go through it if something is so immoral and atrocious I could understand. But in some cases the whole system is messed up still there are flaws with the system some people today think is perfect. We still today are executing innocent people for crimes they did not commit and then after being the stubborn people we are figuring out who really we should have executed. So in manys ways the system is wrong sometimes the death penalty should no appeal. I do not know maybe one day I will change my incintive but for now I do not plan to. If you do the crime you ask for whatever you are handed in return whether it may be life in prison, 5-30 years in prison, or the death penalty do nothing but blame yourself.

I'm just a senior in high school, but i know what the process is for a death row inmate. My mom is a defence attourny and she represents death row inmates on the state level. I have personally written and recieved letters from these guys and I have seen their feelings. It scares them to know that if my mom looses to the state that they could die a most dishonorable death. I have strong feelings against the death penalty and I call for its abolishment. ABOLISH THE DEATH PENALTY.

FOR A HIGH SCHOOL REPORTER YOUSURE HAVE A LOT OF GRAMMATICAL ERRORS!

Actually, Sharon, her errors were mostly spelling.

And normally, who cares, but if you are going to criticize another, YOUSURE should get it right yourself.

I am a strong supporter of capital punishment and work around inmates on a daily basis that should be put to death. Our Correctional Facilities and state prisons are overflowing with people awaiting execution and yet nothing is getting done. I propose that we have one big mass execution of all who are on Death row and quit the buracratic BS and free up the funding which supports Death Row inmates and use it elsewhere.

Maybe you'd change your mind on the Death Penalty if one of these inmates your mom represents got murdered by one of them?

Maybe you think it would be better if they all got let out to roam free and kill again at will?

If they had any morals they wouldnt be sitting on death row in the first place.

Get rid of the lot of them I say and be done with it.
